On Wednesday 27th June Leamington School will be celebrating the Maori New Year; Matariki. On this day classes will be involved in activities for the morning blocks, designed to help the children learn more about Matariki. During this time we will require parent helpers to assist with the activities. A return slip will be included on the notice that comes home with your child.
Shared lunches this year will be in Teams or Syndicates. Please refer to the notice that comes home with your child for details.
Senior Syndicate children (Years 3-6) will still need to bring food for their morning breaks. At lunch time they will need their lunch box to put in items from the shared lunch table.
Junior Syndicate children (Years 1-2) will need their morning tea and lunch in their lunchbox. They will be sharing vegetable soup and a Matariki star cookie during lunchtime in the hall as well as eating their own lunch.
At1:45pm there will be performances for the parents and community by the four school Kapa Haka groups in the school hall. Other children not performing will remain in class during this time.
You are most welcome to join us for all, or part, of the day.
