Kaiako Vacancy

Nau mai, haere mai ki te kura o Te Hurarahi o Taawhio!

Welcome to Leamington School (Te Hurarahi o Taawhaio) and the possibility of this position.  We are looking to create a position to increase the frequency, confidence and pride of children speaking Te Reo Maaori and practising Tikanga Maaori across our school.

We are looking to create a position where all classes are supported to speak Te Reo using a resource person.  We are not delegating out Te Reo's instruction to our new kaiako, but to provide instruction in, and an injection of reo, tikanga, kaupapa, etc. to the class so the teacher can continue with the lessons taught by our kaiako throughout the week.

We consider ourselves fortunate in that we have a staff and community who recognise that we want to do better to honour Te Tiriti's principles to create a world of possibilities for all children within our school.

We welcome interest and applications from people passionate about Te Ao Maaori and who want to help a generation of children share your passion.

To apply for this position, please complete the attached application form and email it to principal@leamington.school.nz by 4pm on 4 June 2021.

If you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to contact me, and we can discuss the position in more depth.
